OVERVIEW
The Spring Moon Wobble ended 2 weeks ago and the Earthquake Swarm near Reno picks up again. The writer thought about this as he wrote several weeks ago than the Reno swarm had diminished during the Moon Wobble. He wondered if the seismic activity would rebound after the Moon Wobble and it has.

Eric was somebody I got to know living in Mammoth. He is/was and geologist and mountain climber. His brother fell of Crystal Crag and his wife died in an auto accident less than a year after they wed. We had many discussions about emotional pain, life and geology. We were also both photographers. The writer taught photography in Mammoth from 1975 to 1983 as well as shot ski and motocross races.
Plate tectonics, what drove them, and the Sierra's were some of our favorite topics. Plate Tectonics cause earthquakes. As these plates shift around the globe they rub up against each other causing seismic activity. The plates are always moving and when they get stuck on each other as the move over, under and around; then suddenly release, they cause tremors, sometimes really big tremors, i.e., 9.0 or bigger. The 8.0 quake in China was not nearly as strong as the 1960 9.5 quake in Chile, or the 1964 9.2 quake in Alaska, the 2004 9.1 quake in Sumatra or the 1952 9.0 quake in Kamchatka.
The Chinese averted a big disaster by successfully draining the lake formed by seismic activity.
